Private Lessons
Rooted in semi-traditional Western voice and songwriting pedagogy but taught through a decolonial and radically inclusive lens, Rowan’s teaching integrates somatic awareness, performance theory, and ethnomusicology to support singers, songwriters, and performers of all backgrounds. Their pedagogy bridges the technical with the intuitive, offering students a deeply embodied, play/pleasure oriented, and trauma-informed approach to voice, songwriting, and performance.
A dedicated mentor, Rowan specializes in working with those who feel alienated from their voices and creative processes—whether due to performance anxiety, creative blocks, personal trauma, or systemic barriers in traditional music training. They reject rigid, one-size-fits-all methods in favor of a practice that is adaptive, liberatory, and scientifically grounded yet deeply intuitive. Their students range from professional, seasoned performers to those reclaiming their voices for the first time, all of whom may find a space that aims to honor both technical rigor and deep self-expression.
